You are not at fault! Drug and alcohol addiction is one of the most pervasive and insidious diseases of the modern era.
It seems that no one is immune from the effects of drug and alcohol addiction. It tears individuals and families apart. It destroys careers and family income. It leaves the individual and their families destitute and desperate.
Drug and alcohol abuse or addiction strikes all, regardless of social or economic status. The visible face of addiction is the poor individual that ends up on the streets. But this group is only 5% of the addicted population. In Vancouver there are an estimated 95,000 individuals struggling with alcohol or drug misuse or addiction. The majority of people with addiction disorders are employed, with families and assets. In fact, 76% of illicit drug users, 81% of adult binge drinkers, and 80% of heavy drinkers are employed.
But there is hope. Although, addiction is a progressive chronic disease, it does not have to end up with someone hitting a disastrous bottom before getting treatment.
At EDGEWOOD Vancouver Addiction Services we work with families, employers, friends and the individual to get help before the person "hits bottom."
Our staff of qualified addiction treatment counsellors provides family and individual support in the form of coaching, assessments, education and interventions. We can also help in selecting and providing expedited alcohol and drug rehab placement and referral. We also provide alcohol and drug testing.
Our ASAM certified addiction treatment physician will provide medical assistance, detoxification medication (including Suboxone and Methadone for opiate withdrawal) and certified addiction assessments.
We can also provide computer on-line addiction treatment counselling for individuals that may not be able to visit our offices in Vancouver.
EDGEWOOD Vancouver Addiction Services also provide addiction education, support and assessments for employers, Human Resource professionals, EAP's and referral agents. We can assist you in developing workplace policies that promote addicted individuals to enter substance abuse treatment and the recovery process. Once the individual is in recovery, we continue to monitor their recovery with drug testing, aftercare counselling and return to work plans.
In addition EDGEWOOD Vancouver Addiction Services provides care well beyond the initial addiction treatment experience. We offer aftercare counselling, relationship counselling, career advice, drug testing, and recovery related workshops.
